Maine Rivers is pleased to announce the donation of several pieces of art work by James Dochtermann to fund our river restoration programs. James is an artist as well as a scientist, he was until recently a researcher at the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve in southern Maine. His paintings clearly drawn on his knowledge and appreciation of the natural world, and reflect beauty through sense of detail and balance. The paintings donated to Maine Rivers were done in oil. Many of James Dochtermann’s works have been provided for documents and publication for Gulf of Maine-related research, education and stewardship . The fish paintings are part of a series that were used to illustrate a field guide Fish of Southern Maine and Seacoast New Hampshire to be released by the Wells Reserve and Laudholm Trust.
